We are proud to announce our March Hero of the Month Laurie Hennessey!

Laurie has worked at West Shore Middle School for the past 15 years.  She is flexible, reliable, and a team player.  I find Laurie to be a professional, caring educator who consistently puts the students first and foremost in everything she does.  I have been fortunate to be able to witness her interactions with students on a frequent basis.  Laurie has the amazing ability to support students in the classroom, and then organize meaningful enrichment opportunities for them after school. Her experience with children from all types of backgrounds allows her to cater to the needs of an ever-increasing diverse population.  For example, Laurie is the director of the West Shore Middle School WAVE program.  The program services over 80 students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.  Students involved in the program have the opportunity to participate in an array of fun and engaging activities.  Most recently the WAVE program marched in the Milford Saint Patrick Day parade.  Students constructed and decorated a float that received the 2018 Chairmen’s Choice Award. Pretty impressive!

“West Shore is a community that works hard!  We are challenged at times, but never give up.  We are a family that sticks together and makes good things happen.  Our kid are number 1.  West Is Best!”   – Laurie Hennessey
