MPC is pleased to announce the May 2019 Hero of the Month, Karen Fogler, Service Unit Manager, Girl Scouts of Milford.
Karen is a longtime volunteer with Girl Scouts and even after her daughter has graduated on to college, she remains active in Milford Girl Scouts.
She is the co-manager of approximately 40 troops, 315 girls, 117 volunteers and 190 adult members. Karen engages new parents to become volunteers and grooms them about their role with the girls and in the community. She has helped run monthly meetings since 2012, providing agendas, guest speakers and topics and in urging all of the troops to find out what the need is in the community and make it into a service project.
She helps mentor volunteers to take over the town Girl Scout events for girls and advises the committee chairs. In addition to all she does with GIrl Scouts, She is a mom of two children and volunteers with her son’s Boy Scout troop also.
Nominated by Anita M. Silvestro of Girl Scouts of CT, she adds: “It has been such a pleasure working with Karen over the years. I am proud to nominate Karen for Local Hero.”
