Walks with Buddy, Inc. along with the Milford Prevention Council will be hosting the 2nd Annual Walk Milford Challenge on September 8, 2019.  Last year, more than 100 participants had joined the Walk Milford Challenge, covering 40+ walking routes – the second year is shaping up to be EPIC once again!

The Walk Milford Challenge serves a dual purpose:

  • Goal 1: Raise funds for organizations in our community that help with mental illness & suicide prevention; and establish a fund to help those without insurance be able to receive mental health care.
  • Goal 2: Have the ENTIRE City of Milford walked simultaneously in 2 hours or less. Other than last year’s attempt, this feat has not been done anywhere. The town of Milford has a lot to offer our participants with its extensive coastlines, Downtown, the Harbor, and Silver Sands State Park. This event will cover the entire city – from shoreline to downtown to the wooded areas north of the Post Road.

Over the course of 2 years, Walks with Buddy, Inc. walked the City of Milford one time in its entirety, and is in the process of walking this “Small City with a Big Heart” once again.  Others have done long-distance individual walks for various causes across the country, but what sets this Challenge apart is that no one has ever attempted to gather a community to walk an entire city in just a few hours for the purpose of raising awareness and funds for a cause.

This is not an ordinary challenge; it is not a 5k or a race, and will take teamwork from all citizens of this amazing city to make it a success. The best part is you will be doing something you may already do every day – go for a walk in your neighborhood – and this time it will be for a worthy cause!

Help bring the Milford Community together for an exciting and unique challenge while raising awareness and funds for Mental Health & Suicide Prevention, join us!  Visit www.walkmilfordchallenge.org  for more information on the walk and to register.
